![]() ![]() With a country such as South Africa, diversity is seen everywhere, from the languages, to religion and ethnicities. It’s beautiful to see so much variety in people. If one does not believe just how diverse they are, all they need to do is look at South Africa’s National Coat of Arms. Their motto says “Diverse People Unite”. They have adapted multiple ideas of Art Theatre, Music, and Dance, Craft…..just to name a few, from other countries implemented their own and created something beautiful and new. South Africa’s music has influenced the whole world when it comes to jazz, gospel and kwaito (yes, kwaito, very similar to hip-hop or slowed down garage music). Art festivals are held annually making them the largest and most diverse art festivals in the whole Africa. There are also other Art Festivals held yearly that attract many tourist as well as many locals. Festivals such as Joy of Jazz International Festival, Cape Town Jazz Festival, the One City Festival in Taung, the Spier Summer Festival at Spier and the Windybrow Theatre Festival . Art and Culture bring jobs to the country and helps educate others about this country. The country itself has 11 official languages. Which are English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiNdebele, Sesotho sa Leboa, Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. Xhosa is the most spoken-making it a home language. While English is the business language. Of South Africa’s population, 80% follow the Christian faith. Other major religious groups are the Hindus, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists. There are small percentage are traditional but have no religious affiliation. |
